What is a registered general nurse?
Registered General Nurses provide medical and nursing care to patients in a variety of healthcare settings. Whether working in a hospital, GP surgery or primary care setting, registered general nurses have completed a three-year training course and are registered with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council). There are a number of nursing jobs available across settings including hospitals, NHS trusts, residential homes, prisons, health centres, GP practices or even schools and companies.
Registered general nurse job requirements:
Nursing degree and full standing as a registered nurse, including one of four specialisms in adult nursing, children’s nursing, learning disability nursing or mental health nursing
Clinical and problem-solving experience
Caring and compassionate nature
The ability to work with people, teams and patients
Strong intuition and observational skills
Ability to work under high pressure in often emotionally-charged environments
Resilience and stamina
