Job summary:

Acute Rehabilitation and Trauma Unit (ARTU)Trauma........who cares - we do!Do you have an interest in traumatic injuries? Would you like to be involved in the unique combination of major trauma and rehabilitation care? Could you work alongside an innovative multidisciplinary team?

The Post holder will be responsible for the assessment of the needs, development of programmes of care, and for the implementation and evaluation of these programmes for patients and their relatives.

• To provide a high standard of clinical nursing within the ward / department

• To manage a group of patients

• To take charge of the ward when rostered and assessed as competent to take on the roles and responsibilities of leadership and supervision

• To act as a role model to students and Clinical Support Workers

• To present a positive, professional image of the organisation and of the nursing team

Main duties of the job

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our team. We can offer you a warm welcome to our Acute rehabilitation and trauma unit (ARTU). The successful applicant will have good communication skills. We are looking for a committed team player who has high standards and is passionate about improving the patient experience. (ARTU is a 27 bedded ground breaking new unit, caring for acute patients stepping down from intensive care, or straight from theatres or A&E, requiring support to achieve their maximum potential for physical, cognitive, social and psychological function. ARTU is one of the first 'hyper-acute specialised rehabilitation" units to be developed within a Major Trauma centre. The ward based multidisciplinary team will care for patients requiring specialised rehabilitation following severe head trauma, complex spinal injuries, polytrauma and other acquired brain injury.)

Within ARTU we have 8 level 1 beds caring for patients with Tracheostomy and acute trauma polytrauma needs.ARTU needs you. If you think you are ready to work in acute trauma and rehabilitation, then we would like to hear from you.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse on NMC Register

Desirable

Recognised qualification in teaching and assessing

Experience

Essential

Good communication skills

Has experience as a student or Registered Nurse working within acute hospital settings

Desirable

Has experience as a student or Registered Nurse working within neurosurgical and/or trauma & orthopaedic specialities
